Sparks, smarter AI and a calmer page

This is a big update. It brings a new place to collect your ideas, an AI that can work directly in your text, and a calmer look across the whole app. It also includes many fixes that make writing and syncing feel more solid.

🌟 Highlights

  • Sparks. Your ideas notebook now has a card view. Add colors, pin the cards that matter, tag with #, take photos, and record voice notes that are written out as text for you, even offline.

  • AI in your text. Ask for a change and the AI makes it right in your document. Improve, Shorten, Fix and Tone show their suggestion in place, with removed words in red and new ones in green, so you can accept or decline in one click.

  • Review the writing. One button marks spelling and grammar mistakes, passages that tell instead of show, weak words and repeated words, with suggestions for each.

  • A calmer look. Fewer lines, thinner icons and 12 accent colors, with a style you can pick per document or apply to the whole app. On the computer, your document and panels sit like loose sheets on a desk, with the document buttons always in view.

  • Command palette. Press Ctrl+K (⌘+K on a Mac), type part of what you want to do and press Enter.

  • Use several AI services at once. Connect OpenRouter, OpenAI, Gemini and Claude together, and choose the model for each conversation.

🆕 New features

  • Continue writing. Type /continue or press Ctrl+J (⌘+J on a Mac) and the AI writes the next few sentences from where you are.

  • More AI actions. The selection bar keeps your two favorite AI actions. A “More” menu holds the rest: shorten, expand, simplify, change the tone or format, get feedback as a comment, or use your own prompts.

  • One-tap AI suggestions. Above the AI request box, ready-made requests: summarize the section, suggest titles, check consistency, outline the structure, or write a synopsis.

  • Distraction-free mode. Hide everything but the page. The line you’re writing stays steady on screen as you type.

  • Focus while writing. While you type, the buttons and panels around the page fade away. Move the mouse or stop for a moment and they come back.

  • Search Sparks with AI. Ask questions in plain words, such as dates or a short description, and the AI finds the right cards, including what is in your photos.

  • Organize your Sparks. Smart lists, a tag editor you can drag and drop, links between cards, related notes suggested by the AI, and selecting several cards at once.

  • Quick capture. Share to ListoInk from other apps, take a photo, or start a voice note straight from the ideas button.

  • Export your ideas as Markdown or PDF, one card or several.

  • Your files in the cloud. See how much space you use, where each file is used, and delete what you no longer need.

  • Choose which images are kept offline: Automatic, All, or only when you open them.

  • Link styles. A pasted web address can stay a plain link, become a one-line link, or become a preview card. Right-click to switch.

  • Checkboxes in your text, plus tasks in the formatting bar.

  • “Book” heading style for chapter titles, with an optional ornament.

  • Pick the ideas the AI sees. Choose which ideas go with an AI request, or pick them by tag.

  • Deep thinking for the AI. Let the AI think longer on harder requests.

  • Settings search, with an index that follows you as you scroll.

  • Prompt folders with icons and colors. Drag prompts into folders and go back to earlier versions with the time machine.

  • Text shortcuts and today’s date/time now work everywhere you type.

🛠️ Improvements

  • Home screen. A “Continue” card shows your last document, where you stopped and your daily goal. Your projects appear as covers, next to recent ideas and your writing activity.

  • Document page. Easier to read, with automatic hyphenation, a softer heading color and the scroll bar outside the page. The save status only appears when something needs your attention.

  • Document stats (words, pages, reading time) are always visible, shown as icons.

  • Word panel. Synonyms and other alternatives for a word, in one panel with tabs.

  • AI panel. Your messages appear as bubbles, tables are formatted, and you can see the model and the real cost of each reply. Earlier conversations load as you scroll, and the conversation comes back when you return to the document.

  • Quick AI actions (Improve, Shorten, Fix). Each one has its own default model, and the app checks the model with you before sending.

  • The AI costs less. It reuses more of what it has already read, so you spend fewer credits per request.

  • Smarter copy and paste. Copy a whole document with its formatting and images. Paste into a blank document and it splits by headings. Images come with pasted rich text.

  • Word and ODT imports keep text alignment and inline code.

  • Trash and Archive keep your folder structure.

  • Navigation in a floating capsule, with the formatting bar right above the keyboard while you type. (mobile)

  • Back closes what’s open first: panels, menus and pop-ups close before you leave the screen. (mobile)

  • Long-press a button to see what it does without using it. (mobile)

  • The bottom bar shows every label, and the formatting bar scrolls in one smooth piece. (mobile)

  • Offline, the microphone and AI buttons say so instead of failing quietly.

  • Clear warnings when sign-in, sync or file storage are having trouble.

  • “Delete account” now sits in a Danger zone with a final confirmation.

  • New app icon and a cleaner loading screen.

🐞 Fixes & optimizations

  • Sync is more reliable. One rejected document no longer pauses everything. Resolved comments and AI conversations sync again, and a document that hadn’t arrived yet opens on its own when it does.

  • Faster and lighter. The app starts with about half the memory, each tab uses about 20 MB less, and closed documents free their memory.

  • No lost images or attachments when your device storage is full. You get a warning instead.

  • PDF export works offline and handles arrows and symbols correctly.

  • Resizing the window no longer leaves the document or overlaps panels and buttons.

  • Returning from OpenRouter takes you back to where you were.

  • Smoother writing on phones: bars no longer flicker as you type, and the gray strip is gone. (mobile)
